Don’t replace damaged concrete when our repair solutions can make the surfaces look new again!

When it comes to making concrete repairs, you may have a few options to choose from, but none can offer the durability and versatility of Battleborn Concrete Coatings’ CR Mender. This cost-effective solution can be used for cracks, vertical concrete repair, damaged step repair, and more. If you’re planning on coating any concrete, having our repair system applied first will create a smooth surface for a longer-lasting finish. Since 2010, Battleborn Concrete Coatings has been a leader in industrial coatings offering industry-leading warranties and service. Don’t replace that cracked concrete when our repair system can provide an alternative solution that is hassle-free, affordable and effective!

Reno freeze-thaw cycles and the magnesium chloride that drips off cars eat away at bare concrete. We fill cracks, rebuild spalled areas, and level divots so your new coating goes down over a sound, flat surface.

More about concrete repair

What causes spalling in Northern Nevada

Reno sits at about 4,500 feet with dry air and huge daily temperature swings. In winter, the slab can cross the freezing point many times a week. Any water in the surface of the concrete expands as it freezes, and over many cycles that pressure pops off thin flakes, called spalling.

Magnesium chloride makes it much worse. The brine soaks deeper than plain water, keeps the surface damp longer, and adds salt crystallization pressure on top of freezing. That is why the first two feet inside a garage door, right where tires drip, are usually the most damaged area.

How we repair it

We start by grinding the whole slab to find every weak spot. Cracks are chased with a crack-chasing blade so the repair material has a clean channel to fill. Spalled and pitted areas are cleaned out and rebuilt with a fast-setting repair mortar or resin, then everything is ground flush with the surrounding concrete.

Once the coating goes on, those repairs disappear and, more importantly, the slab is sealed so brine and water sit on top instead of soaking in.

When a slab needs more than a coating

Some damage is structural: sections that have heaved or sunk, cracks with one side higher than the other, or concrete that crumbles deep below the surface. A coating will not fix those. We will tell you honestly if your slab needs leveling or replacement before it is a good candidate for a coating.

Benefits of concrete repair

Stops further damage

Sealing cracks and spalls keeps water and chemicals from working deeper into the slab.

Flat, sound surface

Repairs are ground flush, so they disappear under the finished coating.

Honest assessment

If a slab needs structural work instead of a coating, we tell you.

Pairs with any system

Every coating system we install starts with whatever repair the slab needs.

FAQ

Concrete Repair questions

Straight answers about concrete repair from our Reno installers.

Don't see your question?

Talk to the crew that will actually coat your floor. We answer the phone Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm.

Will repaired cracks come back?

Slabs move, so hairline cracks can reappear over time. Our flexible base coats help bridge minor movement.

Do you do repair without a coating?

Repair is usually done as part of a coating project, since bare repairs are still exposed to the same damage.

Can you fix a sunken or heaved slab?

Not with a coating. Heaved or sunken sections need leveling or replacement first. We will point you in the right direction.

Why is the damage worst by the garage door?

That is where tires drip snowmelt and mag chloride brine, so the concrete there sees the most freeze-thaw and salt exposure.

Will the repairs show through the coating?

With a flake system, repairs are fully hidden. With solid or metallic finishes, very large repairs can sometimes show faintly.
