Slip-Resistant Floor Coatings: How Texture Is Built In
From garages to commercial kitchens, here’s how we balance grip and easy cleaning in a coated floor.

A glossy floor looks great until it gets wet. Slip resistance is something we design into every system that sees water, oil, or snowmelt.
Ways to add grip
Grip comes from fine aggregate mixed into the topcoat, from broadcast flake or quartz, or from adjusting how thick the topcoat is over a textured layer.
The cleaning trade-off
More texture means more grip but also more effort to clean. We match the level to the room: aggressive in kitchens and wash bays, finer in garages and locker rooms.
Zone it
Many floors use different textures in different areas, such as extra grip near a pool edge or a shop wash bay, and smoother finishes elsewhere.
Keep it working
Built-up cleaner residue can make any floor slick. Rinse after cleaning so the texture stays effective.
