Metallic Epoxy in Basements: What Northern Nevada Homeowners Should Know
Moisture testing, color choices, and care for a high-gloss metallic floor in a lower-level living space.

A metallic epoxy floor can turn a plain basement slab into the most talked-about room in the house. Here is how to do it right.
Start with a moisture test
Basement slabs sit against the ground, so vapor can push up through the concrete. We test before every basement install, and if readings are high, we use a moisture-mitigating primer to prevent bubbles and delamination.
Pick colors for the light you have
Basements often have limited daylight. Silver, pewter, and lighter bronzes bounce light around the room. Deep charcoal and blue look dramatic but can make a small room feel darker.
Plan for traffic and furniture
Use felt pads under furniture and a walk-off mat at the stairs. A clear topcoat protects the decorative layer and can be refreshed later.
Expect a two to three day install
Metallic floors need time for each coat to level and cure. We plan the schedule with you so the room is ready when you need it.
